I have a Lee turret press which has worked faultlessly for many years. However as i'm getting older, i'm finding myself getting more fussy and i'm sure that the press isn't 'accurate' enough. I tend to load in batches, in single stage but am rarely satisfied with the variance in round length.

A while ago i saw a vid from a link here (Spud's i think) which showed a nifty wee benchrest type press being used. Questions:

1. Can anyone name the press i'm thinking of?
2. Can i use my press dies or must i get special ones?
3. Where can i get it and any idea of cost?

At a guess, a Sinclair arbor/toggle press.

Standard 7/8"-14 threaded dies can't be used. Wilson dies are popular.

Before splashing out on gear like this, how much variation are you seeing, and how are you measuring (with what, and between which points?). While these tools are about as good as they come, that doesn't mean you can't get good results with threaded dies.

Dont bother buy RCBS a rock chucker.

Reloading Solutions supply the press. Would have to check their web site re dies and prices.

You will not find any prices on their website. You have to contact them for prices and availability of stock.

defintly better produced ammo by this method as all cases are more concentricv and fully supported at all times


ill need to egt dies in but presses in stock but not many left

Please quantify 'better' and a comparison of run outs...

comparing my wilson dies i have for my .243 acley to redding comp dies with same cases

wilson willl give 1-2 or less run out mostly less where the reddings were 4-5 not a lot even from the redding i agree but more than i like to see in my ammo


the arbor is just as quick to use once you get use to it and i do prefer it for its ease of use and simplicity

Wow you get 4-5 thou run out with redding dies? (I see <.0015 run out with most dies, maybe it's case prep)
What are you doing (wrong)?

I am around .001"-.002" runout with Redding (O ring seated in a Lee Cast Classic) Forster dies used for Christel's 22C are anything from zero runout to .0005" - Incredible accuracy in that respect, the Forster dies I use for my 7mmC seldom wander of .0015"
