Does anyone have any tips?

I have got my hands on some 62gr RG .223 tracer bullets - I am looking for a recommendation for a powder to push it with. The only advise that I have so far is for a Hot ball type powder and a recommendation for W748

So I though I would ask the more knowledgeable folk on here for suggestions.

I dunno, but If you'd like, I'll test a few when they're done in another rifle.. y'know, for scientific purposes... not at all because I want to try some tracer :p

I've done it in 308 and just used my regular powder with no problems?

Mike, only one powder I'd recommend, Hodgdon H335. I have had some outstanding results with it when I was running a straight pull AR and for a long time it was my powder of choice. I believe it's the club's powder of choice amongst the AR shooters as well. It is a ball powder towards the faster side and is allegedly the same powder that the US loaded into their 5.56mm before going to a "low flash" powder when the 14" M4 took precendence over the 20" M16.

It's also a very usefull powder in .308 based cases as well.

BTW, where did you get the tracer bullets from?

Cheer Sim'

I'll give some H335 a whirl - loaded up a batch with H322 and they all went well!!

Found a working load for these! Worked a treat, not bad accuracy out to 750yds today out of my AR15. Came home with a belt of 1:1 tracer/ball in 7.62! 200 rounds
