How is expanding ammo shown on your FAC as mine is worded "ammunition including expanding ammunition and expanding missiles" would it show next to the ammo calibre if expanding was authorised? (i didn't request any on my application, just a general question)
Also is hollow point ammo classed as expanding ammo, even .22 rimfire rounds ?

Re: Expanding ammo
No - it is listed under your conditions on the front page. The ammo totals include expanding if duly authorised.
Hollow points are expanding, including .22lr rounds - now there is quite a lot of debate about some of the target bullets, but my FEO (and RFD) are happy that they are not true hollow points, so do not fall within the definition of expanding.

Re: Expanding ammo
When ACPO gave their evidence to the HO consultative hearings, they proposed getting rid of the classification of "expanding ammunition/bullets", they claimed it was pointless.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Expanding ammo
To confuse the issue, my last licence had the expanding condition against the non expanding and vice versa.
There were a number of similar errors on that copy, including the omission of Home Office approved ranges, and some approved quarry.
When I queried it, I was told " don't worry, we know what we mean. If you get any probelms just give us a ring"
Apparently I was not the only one who had such errors recorded.
Current ticket is much better, thank God.
(By the way, this is not a complaint.
By any means.)

That's ok then as I brought some CCI mini mags today and didn't notice till I got home that they are hollow points and not the normal round nose I usually use at the club, the shop has just recorded them as mini mag on my license.
