Joint/Family Memberships
At out AGM last night I enquirer about joint and family memberships being introduced. I was advised that these were prohibited under the 1997 Firearms Act. Is this true as I have seen clubs advertise such memberships.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: Joint/Family Memberships
iit was mentioned at my last club agm and from memory was shot down for the same reason
Re: Joint/Family Memberships
I have it at my club , appx an extra 50% of full membership fee added with any number of immediate family added , ie partner and children . Each person gets their own membership number and photo ID , adults have to do the normal new member training and probationary period .

We have been members of clubs with joint family membership in the past, no problems.

So, nobody really knows so far? Wonder if any NRA types will drop in to advise!

Can't see any reason against it, so long as the individuals concerned are processed as per any other individual application for membership. The only functional difference is how much the club chooses to charge - the admin side is set out by law.
From memory the law only prohibits "day or temporary" membership.

Is all I know Mike is my club is a home office approved club which has good relations with the local FEO who attends club events from time to time on open days and annual competitions and must be aware of family membership , and there has never been a problem , perhaps the person who said this to you should come up with the relevant legislation to back up what they have said or your idea should go ahead . What better way is there for the sport to go ahead into the future than this .
