The old range at Ireland Mid Bedfordshire

I heard today that the old range at Ireland in Mid Beds was going to be resurrected. I always though it was a pistol range used by the Police in it's day however today I heard that there is a full bore rifle range there as well. Does anyone know anything about what used to be in place?

Hi
I am compiling a database of UK ranges (OK it's my Google Earth view, but I will eventually make it available to selected applicants). Never heard of this one - do you have co-ordinates??

Iain, sadly not. In fact I tried to find it on Google maps and could not spot anything obvious.

Having a little sniff around after seeing your post ovenpaa and found this. Sounds like an interesting area.

Thanks for the link Bobbob. Andrew, this looks to be very low and not what I expect. From memory it was a piece of land by a bridge that ran parallel to the road however I cannot find the road on the map.

No, that one I posted earlier would have had a very short danger area! I think that this is the one, in an old railway cutting:

That would be the one! Hmm... well it is not going to be a 300m range as was suggested, more like 100m however given that is is only 12 miles from me it would be handy for load testing and zero work which is what I am after right now.
Thank you for finding it!

No, 300m would involve shooting round corners, 200 might just be possible although it looks to have been 100m (all as measured on Google earth!)
