What is the longest aimed shot you have taken?
What is the longest aimed shot you have taken? I have never gone beyond 1200 but have been offered the chance to shoot at 2500 metres later this year which could be fun.
Anyone pushing the boundaries distance wise?

Just a 1200 yards last year with the old 26" barrel. Looking forward to getting a higher score this year,
Would love to shoot at over a mile but guess in the UK there can not be that many places where it is possible.

About 10,000 yards (5 nautical miles) ! And I hit the target first time. I had to do all the maths and check charts, tables, speeds, wind &c &c &c. OK, it was a 4.5" on the foredeck of a destroyer during my training but I was pleased with it.

Just 600m (maximum for the range), but it was with a 223 Saiga and a 4x24 POSP sight!
I was firing 62gn RG and managed to get all 10 rds on to the target.
It was the first time I had shot at that distance before and it was the Saiga's first outing. The Saiga got some sneers at 100m and as I worked back, it became looks of disbelief.

I was grinning for days as all shots on target.

So far, only 600 yards on Century at Bisley with my 0.223 CZ 527 and 0.308 CZ 550 with handloaded 68gr Hornady BTHP and 185grn Lapua D46 respectively. Wind reading is one of my weaknesses, which makes it kinda tricky with a 0.223 on a day when the strength of the wind is variable and switching direction. It's so very satisfying when you get it right.

About 200 yds with my home loads and trusty .270, small Roe from a high seat, heart shot, bang on target. Then it ran 50/60 yds before falling in a heap. It always surprised me how some deer run, others drop on the spot when hit in the same place. I miss the days spent wondering around our stalking grounds, never bothered me if I did not get a shot, just been there
was reward enough.
