Muzzle loading pistol shooting competitions

As per my comments in a related thread, I'm interested in competitions for ML pistols. Specifically I'd like to see some 'practical pistol' style of competitions, rather than just paper punching. You could shoot with *any* ML pistol, but something modern with spare cylinders would be ideal (Armscor from Westlake for example)

Would any of you be interested in such a thing? Place your votes now! :)

Yes I like to see them happening, wouldn't want to compete in them myself though.

Certainly something I would be interested in, might band the idea around at our club as we have our own practical shooting team, will see if the owner is interested enough to purchase one of the Westlake pistols being as club members could use it without the authority needed on your ticket unlike the lbr & lbp's.

Out of interest what variation would you need to request on your license just .38 ml pistol for the armscor one?

.357/.38 muzzle loading revolver I believe. You would probably want to ask for an additional cylinder too, I guess the best person to ask how the cylinder should be worded is your FEO.

Yes i would be interested :good:

My only concern is that i believe that the Firearms Licensing Guidance for Police 2002 specifically says that multiple cylinders should not be approved without a "very good" 'good reason'. Although i am aware of several people who have 2 cylinders, for a specific type of competition (the name of which alludes me), i don't know of anyone that has more, which would be needed for 'proper' practical pistol CoF

Yes, that could be our biggest blocker... could be a non-starter :(

Spare Cylinders
Members considered an issue that has arisen with regard to muzzle loading
revolvers and variations to possess spare cylinders for courses of fire that the
National Rifle Association have now approved, which require 6 or 7 spare
cylinders to shoot within the specified time frame.

Sounds good! If only you were a bit closer :)

Your link doesn't work BTW..

http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/cri ... WGMins.pdf should work.. not sure why yours didn't.

What does this bit actually mean:
