I know this has been discussed before but I'm maybe going to buy a new folding knife and need to know if a UK Legal knife can be carried all the time regardless of what you are doing or do you need to still be engaged in some sort of hunting/shooting?

Non-locking folding blade of no more than 3 inches (76mm) in length. There is often debate between how the length of the blade is measured, be it the length of the cutting edge, or the straight length (not taking any radii into consideration) of the blade. Essentially go for something about 2 3/4" (70mm) which is non locking (a la a Swiss Army knife style of backspring) and you'll be fine. Any more than 3", a fixed blade or locking blade of any length and you will need to provide "good reason" should you be stopped and questioned by the Police.
edit: I should point out that of course "any where" isn't always straight forward, walking around day to day shouldn't pose many problems, but if you often work in schools, official buildings/law courts etc or other places where certain items may be prohibited (airports etc are another example) then it would still be wise to leave it at home or in a workbag etc depending on the environment.

...and ALL KNIVES are banned from football grounds regardless of blade length - even 1/2" ones would be an arrestable offence!!

That is interesting, I had to watch it a couple of times and look at the knife again to see how it worked. Are they available in the UK?
