Visiting Texas in October....want to shoot something fun

Evening all,

I'm visiting a friend in Frisco (near Dallas) Texas in October for a few days and I'd like to take advantage of the sensible firearms laws and shoot some fun stuff. bangbang

I'll drop my mate a quick email too, but do any of you guys 'n' gals know of places around Dallas to shoot fun stuff? He owns pistols and an AR, shot those a few times already, so I'm thinking maybe .50 cal? Something in full auto? That kind of thing.

Recommendations greatly appreciated.

Jud

can't help with Dallas/ Ft Worth area however I am sure there will be plenty of ranges, try to get one out away from the City as they are usually cheaper/more friendly .try hereof course if you don't mind a road trip the LoneStarRange near Austin now has a .50BMG on their rental fleet :D

I hear there's a grassy knoll in Dallas that makes a good shooting platform, allegedly if you have access to a Rem .221 Fireball pistol

Wasn't planning on leaving the Dallas area, but looks like we might have to, if we want shoot .50 BMG. I can't find any ranges at all in DFW that are .50 BMG friendly. That's a shame.

And there was me thinking everyone in Texas would be playing with the big toys, just because they can.

They do play with the big toys, just not at public ranges. You will find most who shoot 338 and 50 cal go off into the desert for their fun. No range fees, no range officers, no idiots and you can stretch out to 1500 easily.

Well with a starting price of $3500.00 and up not many have a .50 BMG.

If you want more shooting info on the area, try asking the Yanks.
Join up at www.surplusrifleforum.com and start a general thread for Shooting in the Dallas area. (I'm a Senior Moderator there)
Tell them Burner and Tower75 sent you.
You will get more info and offers to shoot then you will have hours in the day.
