This was outside the front today. Muntjac?

...outside the front door. It just wandered down the lane and stopped to graze between the cars. It seemed unphased by things going on around it and when Christel walked outside it half walked towards her before ambling off. I could not see any sign of physical damage to it however it looked a bit skinny and I have to admit I know nothing about such things.

Just wondering if it is an old one, at first I thought it was a youngster, Ovenpaa pointed out it was skinny so maybe old, maybe slightly deaf? A youngster and a dog ran past it, it had it's back to them but did not take off. I walked up to it when it was facing the house and it took a step towards me but then slowly turned around and walked away into the undergrowth.

We thought maybe it had been hit by a car, it seemed slow...but no obvious sign of damage.

There is a mansion up the gravel path, maybe some 250m away, they have two kids, I was wondering if perhaps they had been feeding this muntjac and it had become slightly tame?

I've seen a few in fields with their heads sticking up out of the grass - they always appear very alert and timid...so sadly all my not be right with it...

...non the less, an interesting thing to see at home, and a good picture :good:

She was on her own and in no rush to leave either however we are only 30 feet from dense woodland so maybe she had the little one stashed somewhere local.

Nope, she lived to see another day (maybe....)

EDIT - Actually she did choose a rather bad time to bimble past as I was in the process of cleaning the S&L however I suspect the neighbours would have been a bit cranky if I slotted a bambi on the lawn so to speak. (Note to self..)

Years ago I heard a story about three generations of family in one car passing a Police county headquarters one evening when they spotted 'something' of interest grazing on the lawns. It was shot on the spot with a silenced .410 and the youngest was sent out to retrieve the evening meal. He was still shaking over it a week later...
