Bedding compound and blueing

Hello,
Do any of you folks know if two-pak type bedding compounds (I use JB Weld) will have a negative effect on blueing?
I was thinking of sandwiching some between a LSR mount and the receiver on my K98. The mount became loose(ish) after firing about 30 rounds and on closer inspection the radius on the LSR mount is very slightly different to that on the receiver. I just thought I would use JB to make a 100% mating surface but dont want it to ruin the blueing.
Thanks.

I use JB weld for bedding and try and always try and keep it of any unprotected blueing. I can't remember if thats because I know it will effect it or I do it that way just in case it does.

For bedding actions the release agent swerves as a good enough barrier and I haven't noticed any blueing damage when I use that, I use wax floor polish the current tin is called Trewax.

However if you want the stiff to stick then a release agent is not what you need.

If you have any spare blued parts you could do a test.

Thank you.
I will put a bit in an inconspicuous place and see what effect it has. Good stuff that JB weld isnt it-I managed to drop a blob on the carpet when I was bedding my 308 and still haven't been forgiven :o

Kiwi shoe polish is good as well, put it on and then buff it off and you are ready to go. Make sure you mask the area around it and you should be OK

Aye it is good stuff indeed, it gets plenty of use by me. It is especially useful for fixing those cheap boxwood handles Lee use on their moulds which burn out after a couple of casting sessions and drop off, Jam them back on with some JB weld and they are as they should have been when they left the factory, safely secure.

Before removing the mounts put masking tape around them , when the JB gets to the cheesey stage any excess can be cut off from the base . and removed on the tape .
