Hi all,

I know it's not pre 45 guys, but if this isn't coverd by "Military and Historic" , I don't know what is!

I just found this, you tube video of the early 1955 UK fal trials, fascinating stuff, I see the EM-1 and EM-2 Rifles optical sight was considered, but obviously dropped early on.

Nice find :good:

That sight looks like someones snapped the bottom off a Cornetto and clagged it on the rifle!

Re the sight,

I believe the Cornetto sight failed the tropical trials when it melted, thus ending Walls foray into the arms word !

I hear the improved Mk2 version is very tasty!!

Neat video. The sight on the early FAL always makes me cringe a bit - it tapers to a pointy bit of metal horribly close to the eye. The sight picture must be 'orrid, too.

The designers must have had a thing for bashing eyes, most people I know, who used it, were bashed by the rear sight at one point or another,

Never bashed my eye but had a breech explosion once that launched the top cover over my shoulder!
