Look what came in the post today. A hand made 1907 sling by Jonathan Moore.
Often, nowadays, I find that I am disappointed when opening an eagerly anticipated parcel only to find the contents below my expectation. Therefore, you can imagine my joy to receive an item that not only is going “to do what it says’s on the tin” but also excites at least four sensory responses, those of smell, touch, sight and anticipation.
The room is now full of the smell of new leather as I look at the stitching of the keepers and D ring. I also like the care taken in trimming the leather round the brass hooks. Can’t wait to use this sling but first I must take it to bits to treat the leather if it’s going to have any chance of surviving the UK summer!
The leather makes a very nice creaking noise so there is the hearing sense taken care of as well.

Thanks for the positive review...I trust it will give many years of use. Been making these since 2004 & not had any go wrong yet...must have done over 60 or so by now

I'm getting old & grey (older & greyer) waiting for the batch of brass hooks being made by a mate.
I really like doing the M1907's - I mean, it's a design with over a century of military service & it's still going strong - so not being able to make them to order is getting to be a little annoying.

I'll add the YouTube WW2 clip on use of the M1907 sling later - as SWMBO is standing next to me with her engine running as she wants a lift to the shops!!! KNEW I should have gone to the range (rain stopped play)

Saddler: I like the look of the .44 one in two shades of leather - but would want one in .357...I'm not sure if I can make the Autumn meet, but will definitely need one for next year (the last 2 years I've been loading from my coat pocket)...are you going to be at the Trafalgar?

Yes - the ammo loops can be made in whatever combination of colours the buyer wants and in cal. such as 38/357, 44/45, etc.
...even 32-20, 25-20, etc. (as long as I either have suitable empty brass to hand or the customer can supply/loan a couple)

HOPE to get to Bisley for the Phoenix - you can have a slide for £1; plus my petrol costs to get there (special mates rate! )
