Hi, I'm intrested in the questions you were asked on your home visit by your FLO when applying for your FAC.

I'm only trying to judge the type of thing to expect when my time comes around, also would you recommend any reading etc?

Thanks in advance.

Be friendly, offer tea and biscuits.

You will be expected to answer questions on how/why you got involved in shooting, your particular interest area, the calibres that you are after and a little knowledge on ballistics also helps.

It is not an exam and they will realise that you are a newbie and don't know everything. There is no in depth reading required but common sense and a little basic knowledge go a long way.

If you come across as a decent stand up bloke, interested in shooting, appears safe and sensible who can justify every gun requested then you wont go far wrong.

Andy

They normally ask about you, what interests you in shooting, the types of shooting you're wanting to do.

All of the people I've dealt with are fine, they're generally retired police and are very good at reading peopleJust be yourself, answer honestly and don't panic.

be honest and ask what you think you need to know they are there to help you and are NOT trying to stop you

The FEO will be on your side and keen to see you are asking for the rifles that best suit your needs so just sit him down and talk, he is as interested in you as he is your choice of rifles so he will ask you about your experience, aspirations, storage, general security and probably many other things. I am always impressed by just how polite my FEO's are, they are always pleasant and I enjoy the times we get to talk.

I have the Firearms manager coming to see me in the next week or two, we have got to the stage where we are very slightly rude to each other, he is a top man to deal with and I am really looking forward to our meeting.

Moral of the story just be honest and enjoy the experience. :good:
