Hi guys
Having grown tired with surplus prices sky rocketing I have decided to start reloading for my 91/30 mosin nagant. I know it is .311 bullets I need and I was wondering if anybody else on here could recommend a decent recipe?
Cheers
Ian

DROMIA is near to you - call down to see him
S&B do dedicated FMJ bullets - as do ACE
As to powders, ect. - Viht and some of the similar types such as TR140 & Elcho17 are well priced
For EXACT recipes - you need a reloading manual, better yet, get 2 or 3.
As in - you need a reloading manual, better yet, get 2 or 3

I am currently using N140 for my .308 and am hoping to find a bullet and data as a decent starting point .Not much in Lee manual or Viht reloading data. Got a mate with the Sierra manual so may need to give him a call.

Start at 40 gns of VVN140 for a starting velocity of around 2,300 - 2,400fps fps. I would carefully work the load up from there in .5 gn increments to a max of 45 gns if its looking safe to do so.
Thats with a 174 gns flat base bullet.

I agree with Adam.
I use 174g bullits in mine I use the same bullit that I use in some of my Enfields.

I'm using .303" Mk V11 bullets as they are FB, but I've also had success with the Prvi 174 gn BT.
For some strange reason 174 gn .311" FB bullets are hard to get now, Prvi and S&B used to do them but appear to have stopped, a shame really as FB usually work best in these military rifles.

You could do the obvious and use cast boolits - no problem at 2000 fps or more.
Come and have a chat - I'm only 5 miles from you.
