Can anyone shed any light on the rumours flying around that Vihtavouri are closing there powder manufacturing facility in Finland!! I had heard that the accounts had not been looking very good for a while now. are these powders in fact made elsewhere and just 'badge engineered'.
If the rumours are true then a lot of shooters are going to be a little

off!!

From the first US forum I've just looked at in researching this.....
"This is Adam Braverman, Business and Sales Manager for Lapua and VihtaVuori in the USA. This is not true that VV powders will be discontinued and the factory closed down. There has been a down turn in the military market in Finland for powder, but the commercial reloading powders are doing quite well and will continue.
Thanks,
Adam"

Purely rumour based on a tiny amount of fact.

Would he (Adam Braveman) not have a vested interest in quashing the rumours-sounds like typical PR speak to me, or am I just being over cynical. (I hope its my hang-over making me cynical sign01 )

The UK importer told me that this rumour was floating around last week
Given the worldwide sales of Viht. they have assured me the rumour is 100% bollox
...and what proof is there of them buying powders in?
US companies DO - Viht DON'T

There was a piece on this in one of the shooting magazines over here, it's not true they are closing.

One of our very well connected members has said that the Viht factory is definitely closed. Some powders may be offered under a different label, from a different factory, but the main factory (?) will be closing.

Googling Viht I found the Nammo site and there is no mention of Viht powder anywhere, not even at the Vihtavouri site.
Just civilian ammunition and brass (apart from all the military products)

As far as I know Lapua currently use Bofors powders for factory ammunition and only manufacture for grenade launchers and larger stuff.
