My back up S-class rifle - Rossi break barrel- is not free floated and still has a harris type bipod.

In my eyes this is the thin edge of the wedge! :bad:
Whilst I would not use a bean bag stalking I would and do use my rucksack and or sticks. Mind cant use sticks prone.
OK, fair enough - I've done the same.

Still don't like the idea of a bean bag, however I don't mind the bipods for the SVD - if that's the rifle we are discussing?

SG, you mean tripod?

As long as the weight of the tripod/support is taken into account for the 6kg limit and does not unduly influence the tracking of the rifle then I am fine with this.

So as an example, a low camera type tripod with a cushion would be acceptable however a tripod with long spikes anchoring it to the ground with a formed cup to control tracking and fold the rifle in place would not.

Anyone?

No. I meant the bipod that Rusmilitary sell for the SVD - http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/bipod_svd.jpg.
For the record, I don't agree with any rest that isn't attached to the rifle.

Ah, Oleg never seemed to have them in stock when Christel was shooting her SVD so I ended up building an adapter stud to allow her to fit a Harris bipod.

Goes to show that it can be done. We don't need to go down the route of bean bags, tripods etc.

Keep is simple - harris type bipods unless otherwise approved. Rests must be attached to the rifle.

The primary use for the rifle is going to be CSR in service optic class - hence it is set up with 1-4x scope and no bipod.

I do have a source of a suitable bipod even if Oleg does not have one in stock.

Also have a spare weaver mount so I might get a higher power scope and bipod.

I can quick release the bipod and big scope when doing CSR and go back to the small scope.

Will there be a S Class comp at Bisley anytime soon ?

Breacher,
Good to know that you're willing (and able) adapt the SVD. :good:

As far as Bisley is concerned, you need to speak to Ovenpaa or MiLisCer - I'm dealing with Scotland! :o
