I have seen elsewhere that Westech, the company that organised Bisley Live have allegedly filed for bankruptcy owing a substantial amount of money including a six figure sum to NRA/NSC?

I wonder if this effects the NRA finances in real terms or is lost income they were perhaps expecting which I hope hasn't already been spent elsewhere??

Yep just checked Companies House and it appears they filed on 24 May.

So - no Bisley Live 2012??

Those of us that bothered to check before the Bisley Live event could see that no accounts had been filed and the company did not have a traceable track record.

But I was just the silly old sod leaving because I was too old, so there was no point listening to my concerns ( I wasn't the only one)

There are some things I did in my time at Bisley of which I am proud and some not.

The official answer is (was) that Westech shouldered any losses, and that the NRA did not get stung. If that is true, no problem.

If, on the other hand it did - here we go again.

However I must say that the current CEO and his staff did not plan, or take part in the initial organising but took over in mid-stream. They took the reins far too late in the process to make any real changes, although concerns were voiced. The Westech team were very plausible.

A one stage I did say that my concerns may have been misplaced. I take no pleasure in having been right initially and wrong to believe at one stage that they might pull it off. As I say, I wasn't the only one.

I take no pleasure whatsoever in saying "we told you so" but a lot of people did!

Unfortunately others didn't listen!

What I didn't say was that the NRA has the expertise to run a small event themselves.

Combined event? Hmm??.

As long as they don't try to run before they can walk it would work and it would grow.

Slowly perhaps but there is (was) obviously a gap in the market. More economical use of available space and using local knowlege, it has a much better chance of success than an event run by a company comprising people who had never run an outside event.

The NRA has members involved (probably) in every walk of life. By pooling that volunteer resource, who knows what the limits are?

If you google map the address, it is a lovely house!

I think its the accountants house or something as I did some research before it all started and there are other businesses registered to the same address. Appears to be a common business practice.

Westech were a £100 company with parent company in Singapore - hmmmm what did they think would happen . . .
