Hey guys, there may some good hunting coming by way of Scotland. They really need to take care of these swine now, because if they don't and at the rate they breed at, the damage they will do is horrendous. The big boars will also have a go at people as well without any provocation, the other thing is were there are feral pigs, you won't find many deer.

It's a wild place up there mate, I noticed that they forgot to include shell suited feral youth wearing baseball caps back to front.

Could they be put on open licence? They'd be fair game we think for our AIA 7.62x39 Goblinator - especially now we have the 30 round AK47 magazines...

Boar have no seasons or special protection in the Uk -they maybe shot with the landowners permission, providing your FAC is conditioned accordingly.

MiLisCer: Thanks for the link though I think they have a couple of things wrong. If left alone these things will breed like rabbits and just wait and see the damage they do and not just to crops. I think their view at #8 is a little out of date also, those things make a hell of a mess of the countryside. They will start coming into villages and small towns and boy wait until you hear people scream about it then.

It also said that if left alone they are not a danger to humans, not strictly true especially with the adult boars and sows with young. Those things can be and are dangerous, they will attack without any provocation. It happens here in the States quite a lot, a while back a lady here in Michigan was attacked while out walking, minding her own business, and bang a boar came charging out of the undergrowth. She was lucky that she manged to climb a tree until it left. In this State and in most States that have them, those things are shot on sight.

I have kept & managed wild boar for a while now, to me they are like dogs, very clever & obedient whilst in enclosures, i never had an incident. Once out or as an escapee within 7 days they revert back to wild & will & can eat anything ! Unless as said above, they are threatened or stressed , most will usually do anything to get out of your way, this includes jumping like a kangaroo over a wall/fence /5 bar gate ! Usually very shy animals with family orientation, & they keep they young protected.

I think neds have been on open licence for years, you don't even need a humane killer for despatch, anything sharp will suffice.
