Need some advice .....
I need a replacement barrel for a shotgun,
i have found a dealer in the USA who will ship to the UK, however is it legal for me to have it posted to my address ?
i cant to go through an RFD as they say they dont have the import licence ! or else they would charge a fortune
i have checked the customs website and the UKBA website which says a barrel can be imported as long as i hold the correct FAC for the weapon it is for, which i do.
Anyone imported a barrel from the USA ?
I have e-mailed UK customs seeking clarification, as i dont want to be breaking any laws !
thanks

I think the US ITAR restrictions might be an issue. You can't easily export anything that is a constituant part of a firearm without the correct export license which I think runs at about $350. Having said that I've imported various items including UZI magazines through USPS without any issues. Bit of a lottery I think.

The ITAR licence is closer to USD260 from memory and I was talking to someone only yesterday that had imported a Bartlein barrel blank for his Sako 75 from the USA. I will mail him and see if he can help.

Also I believe it has to be sent to an exporter from a FFL which then signs it over to RFD and then to you.

...some people believe in fairies in the garden

Personal importation IS possible without involving an RFD
