Hi

I was thinking of getting the AK47 from GSG, anyone have any experience of these and any advice was also considering the Walther G22. Any advice welcome

Guy in our club has one. Good fun to blat away with but not very accurate I'm afraid.

I like the G22 and I really regret selling mine (offer too good to refuse), so much so that I'm really drawn to buying another.

The bullpup configuration isn't to everyone's liking, same with the trigger and cleaning can be a bit of a bugger. On the other hand I found it accurate, compact and really nice to shoot.

I've sold a few and have one myself, a bit too well made for a true AK copy though.

Found it as accurate as any other .22 semi like a 10/22 out of the box.

I know a couple of people who use it to good effect on mini rifle and such like comps.

I like using it for 50 yrd + running bunny bashing with a red dot sight.

I would definitely go for the AK over the G-22, Sandgroper must've had the only reliable one ever made! Of course they may have been improved since they first came out, and i do like the features (esp. the spare mag in the butt), but the 3 i've seen could never get through a full mag without jamming. One guy was a gunsmith and had spent months working on it and it still wouldn't behave

Tell the the gunsmith to 'give' it to me and I'll make it work!

My was second hand and I stripped it right down to give it a really good clean - something I do with every 'new' rifle I get - which possibly helped as it was filthy .
I found that if you tightened up the stock too much you got problems with the magazine - fitting, feeding and ejecting.

Light, compact, accurate bullpup plus you're able to pick them up fairly cheaply - what's not to like? I must admit that the fact it's a bullpup which reminded me of the F88 Austeyr* (Steyr AUG) and that it required some 'tinker time' to get to it's best really appealed to me.

*If we could get hold of the F88T :shakeshout: I'd sell my soul for one (for what it's worth! )

Looks like a drop in kit (like the 9mm one) would be possible, now that would be niiiiiiiice

I had a go with the AK.Its really good fun and kinda faithful to the original-the post sight is a tad chunky! Was quite accurate too and is a good plinking gun.

The G22 though-jams are very common.

I still have my G22 first Semi-Auto rifle, shot in Phoenix postals with it and did well (once I learned how to clear a jam in around 2 seconds)

Accurate as hell too, and for a while it worked flawlessly, Sandgroper if you ever want one again, I'm thinking of selling mine, but it's buster at the moment, I believe it's an issue with the sear
