8x58RD shell holder - which one do I need

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

Can anyone tell me what size shell holder I need for the 8x58RD please? I need to order a couple for .223 so may as well add some for the Krag.

David,

Looks like an RCBS number 3 possibly?

I git mine from CH 4D, a lee 18 could do at a pinch.

Just checked John, they do not list anything remotely like the 8x58RD, Dromia the Lee 18 is listed as suitable for the 11x60 which has a rim diameter +.010" and body diameter +.0250" which is reasonably close. I was going to order one when I ordered a set of dies from CH4D however I am thinking of buying a reamer and some Die blanks from PTG and making my own hence asking.

Ovenpaa if it is 8x58R for a Danish Krag it should be a RCBS number 14 shellholder which is a Lyman 17 or Hornady 14.

If it is 8x58R/.318 the shellholder is RCBS 2 or Lyman 6, Hornady 2, Lee 3.

The Hornady 14 is as good a fit as the Lee 18 , just tried them.
