Do people use .22LR rim thickness gauges?

I was asked today if I could make some inserts for the Hornady type comparator to measure the rim thickness of .22LR ammunition, are such things still used these days, I thought .22LR was so consistent there was no need to measure the rim thickness...

The Yanks seem to worry about it a lot but I dont know any one who does here .

The benchrest guys use gauges - I think we've an article on it in April's Target Shooter.

I will make a couple of spares then, they are simple enough to make and if I have the machine set up.......
