Interesting article about US Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) withdrawing from UN arms control study. Worth reading the minority report which is nine pages.

An interesting read. Of course I had to go and look at the
CASA Project on International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) My interest was in who is supporting and sponsoring such a group, the good news is our Government is not listed. Phewww - at least the chaps that 'run' our country are not subscribing to this yet. Then I scanned the list below and look who is listed:
http://www.bssc.org.uk/
Remember these are the umbrella organisation representing the major shooting associations in the United Kingdom and acting as a
conduit between the Home Office and other Government Departments, the Association of Chief Police Officers, the British Standards Institute, the Health and Safety Executive, etc. for the exchange of views and information across the spectrum of sporting shooting. It is now seen as a primary consultee on any issue concerning the sport.
Another that caught my eye was the Danish Demining Group (DDG) Apparently based in Vietnam of all places and without a working web presence.
An interesting list of partners. I can fully understand why SAAMI have withdrawn from this study given it's biased approach and choice of partners.

From the Canadian NFA representative at the U.N. Small Arms and Light Weapons Conference in 2006.

I could find no evidence that blanket gun regulations, even firearm prohibitions, contributed to a reduction of criminal violence in any of these countries. Firearm prohibitions failed to reduce criminal violence in both Jamaica and the Republic of Ireland. My results offer no support for those who advocate blanket gun laws.
I conclude by asking the General Assembly to reject the siren song of the anti-gun NGOs, Mr. President. The campaign to impose blanket prohibitive gun regulations is contrary to a growing body of research showing that in a wide variety of countries, arms prohibition does not contribute to lowering criminal violence.
There is a danger the UN will lose further trust and credibility around the globe, and ultimately take part in the prolongation of poverty, misery and the lack of prospect of entire peoples, by mistakenly directing its attention towards private gun ownership.
I bet that went down like a lead balloon!

Ironic that the UN are dead-set with taking sporting and even defensive guns out of the hands of civilians when they stood by and watched "toothlessly" whilst massacres were carried out in the Balkans and Rwanda.......
Thanks, something else for me to rant about tonight as it's been brought back to mind.

Groups like
http://www.iansa.org/home are the ones to keep an eye out for.
IANSA are constantly lobbying politicians and the UN to eradicate all civilian firearm ownership.

CLAS sim.
Obama the savour of all things bent has signed up to the UN arms ban... do not thnk it will go away. Our lot are in there somewhere, probably under a "charity" disguise.
I reckon the UN see themselves as the "world government" even although they have more blood on their hands than Dewhursts.
Not one initiative will disarm despotic regimes and armed militia.....but the UN plans will happily disarm victims for the slaughter......beware the UN, they could be just as big a threat as any other terrorist group in the future!
Wait till you see the blue etc ....could come to that in some places...
