Those are two beautiful rifles, Trapdoors are really fun too shoot. I was wondering how your rifle shoots? Nice rifles and Trapdoors are getting scarce not that many around any more.

Yes, the Trapdoor Springfield is lovely rifle to own and shoot.
It is an 1874 Model, manufactured in 1888 and issued to the 10th Ohio Volunteers. The stock has been re-finnished sometime in the past with a little loss of sharpness but overall it is in fine condition
It does shoot very well indeed. It has the Buffington rearsight that makes fine adjustments very easy. At 200 yards I can usually get all shots into the black, if I have done my handloading carefully that is. Of course the reloading of a nice straight 45/70 cartridge case is sooo easy when compared to something like the heavily bottle necked 577/450 Martini Henry....
I shall be shooting the Trapdoor at Bisley next week... :shakeshout: :shakeshout:
