Do you shoot at 1000 yards?

Are you a 1000 yard shooter and if not why not?
Accuracy in MOA at any distance is an accepted international standard. Read any article on rifle shooting and it invariably quotes the accuracy in MOA and repeatability, in simpler terms group size. I sometimes wonder if anyone owns a rifle that fails to shoot sub half MOA when I read some of the articles.
Anyway it set me thinking. Do you shoot 1000 yard stuff and if so what is the level of accuracy you are prepared to accept with your system?
Now this is a very open question, 3.5" for a 5 shot group is going to be very acceptable if you are a Bench Rest shooter, equally five in the black with an SMLE .303 at 1000 would keep me very happy. Where do you sit within these extremes? Too many people tell me they do not have a rifle that will shoot 1000 yards but I am struggling to think of any full bore rifle that will not get out to that distance. Personally I am increasingly finding myself having more and more fun with rifles that were not designed to be the top dogs at this distance. Roll on cast boolits at 1000, is it doable?
1000 yard shooting should be a mind set as much as anything and other than not having access to a 1000 yard range or truly having an unsuitable rifle I see no reason why people do not try it. Getting rounds in the black is where you start, the half MOA groups can wait for another day.
I cannot wait to get Christel's 8x58RD pointed at a 1000 yard target. If I tell myself the rifle and I can do it then there is fair chance on a still day at a big frame on Stickledown, I suspect many other people if they try can do the same.
