Mud Men at Bisley

I've just seen a recent episode of Mud Men in which Johnny and Steve go to Bisley and use a Bren Gun and other full auto firearms. I didn't realise there was a legal way to do that. Does anyone know what sort of permission they would have to do that and whether or not it's possible for ordinary mortals to use the same permission?
I'd love to try it, and having watched the programme and seen Johnny waving a found Mauser pistol all over the place
, I have more idea how to behave on a rifle range that he does.

This came up a few years ago when one of our club members was invited to be on "Mark Williams' Big Bangs" that was on TV years ago; the show detailed all the various ignition systems of firearms through-out history. One of the firearms present was a full-auto Vickers MG from WWI
I remember being told that there's some BS loophole that states if it is for educational purposes, and will be viewed by mass-media (TV), and you have the S5 certificate, then you're legal.

Hmmm, OK then, what if ..... one of my pals filmed me being "educated" in the recreational use of a Bren Gun ....and then put in on Youtube? :shakeshout:

It was the second visit by Mud Men to Bisley, last time they were with John and Colin from Fultons. While I was pleased to see Bisley on TV, the way Johnny Vaughan behaves is just embarrassing. The stupid German accent he was putting on just wasn't funny.
Mud Men is an interesting programme spoilt by it's presenter.
It does seem unfair that some can go and shoot full auto especially when Johnny Vaughan spent 25 months inside for attempted drug dealing.:?

Steady on, I'm sure he paid his dues on that score
I think his screen persona is very funny. I'm more interested in the route by which the presenters could get to shoot full auto. I'd like a shot at that too. Sauce for the goose etc etc....

It will be owned by the military, a museum, a film production or prop company, or perhaps a dealer. The Defence Council and Secretary of State grant S5 permission for these (as well as the police and others).

I should bloody hope so too,will be keeping an eye on you tomorrow.
I like'd the way (not) the 98k won over the lee enfield No.4 considering the lee was from standing and the mauser was prone.

I think they were special "difficult to load" examples....
