It means that some will have their wages cut and their terms and conditions changed as it says they all are. Looks pretty desperate to me.
They must be in a bad way, still some information as to the scale of the problem would stop the inevitable speculation.

Putting the prices up is all well and good, but beware the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Less than a million CofE church goers in this country, the church are not exactly doing their best to keep their customers or get new ones with that price increase.

Given that (according to that reliable source the Rovers Return) the average wedding now costs £22k, I don't think that £400 for the actual ceremony (you know, the bit where two people make that little promise ...), including presumably the premises (elegant and beautiful historic building) and the master of ceremonies (trained, experienced and dedicated counsellor backed by the mightiest parent company in all history), is an unreasonable charge.

Unless you're a tight Scotsman who made me get married in a cheap tacky hotel (complete with artificial flower arch) in Newquay so we could save money on moving costs

I think the churches view is probably that if you are prepared to spend thousands on flowers and photos etc. you can pay a fair proportion for the service. Sadly most weddings seem to view the Marriage Service as an inconvenience that has to be endured before the serious part of the day begins - the reception and disco.christel wrote:Less than a million CofE church goers in this country, the church are not exactly doing their best to keep their customers or get new ones with that price increase.

Re: Continuing the process of restoring the NRA
The artificial flower arch did not make an appearance. The hotel had four stars and was good value for money. And by getting married then, rather than later in the year at Bisley for instance, yes the RAF paid our removal expenses from Cornwall to Morayshire (about £7000!). So, in one sense, guilty as charged.karen wrote:Unless you're a tight Scotsman who made me get married in a cheap tacky hotel (complete with artificial flower arch) in Newquay so we could save money on moving costs

Must look up that little promise again. Wasn't there something about "obey" in it? :?
Meanwhile, back at the NRA ...
