If that's an art gallery I'd suggest the dog, if it's a range the rifle might be more useful!

Neat. That's not a "German" 98k is it? Jerry rifles seem very uncommon on the whole.

Hello,
The k98 is all stamped up in the right places, apart from the two barrel bands which have different numbers. It is a late 1944 model made by J.P.Sauer and generally is in great shape. I have been looking through historical records and because it was one of the last k98's to come out of the factory it is a bit of an odd-ball (no bayonet lug or barrel band retaining clips!) I think in the States it is referred to as a 'semi-Kriegsmarine'-not to sure about this myself but hopefully it is a good shooter.
As for the hound (Moose) she came to us from a rescue centre about three weeks ago and seems to like guns/rabbits!
Does anyone know why J.P.Sauer stopped producing rifles in 1944?

Salut ,
You mean "Semi-Kriegsmodell" not KM
Is your rifle a russian re-issued one ? did it come from a Norvegian arsenal ?
We talked about it before and as far as I know CE did not make Kriegsmodell .
My take on it, but I might be wrong, it that the stock is not the original one and does not belong to the rifle or a rifle made by JP Sauer in 44.
The factory was based in Suhl which, as a center for weapons manufactoring, was extensively bombed, so maybe the factory was destroyed or the machines relocated , hence 1944 being the last year they made K98 ??

That makes a lot of sense Froggy, I might in the future try to put it back to way it should be but at the moment I shall just enjoy shooting it.
Dave, Moose is approximately three years old but she was a stray and we know like about her apart from that she has a brilliant temperament and house trained :shakeshout:
