Pfft. Please. I'm a recoil junky.

It was like a Mauser really. I liked it. The only sort-of complaint I had was; the handguard runs all the way to the receiver-ring, the rear-sights poke through the handguard, and when the sights are set to 100 metres/yards, the sights are practically flush with the wood of the handguard. Very horrible sight picture.

Maybe the Yugo's doctrine of engagement is to bayonet charge the Kapital murder if he is less than 100 meters away ?? ;)

Good feed back , thanks very much :good:

I have one, and rather like it ! It's a plain, no-nonsense, built to last rifle capable of pretty good accuracy and with a nice trigger - though mine may well have been breathed on a little by Paul at TVG. He tends to do things like that to all the guns that pass through his paws. A tweak here, a polish there. Seems to make quite a difference.

I have one rebarreled to 7.62mmx51. I also had one previously still in 8mm. The M48s are pretty common over here. There are two varients, one with milled fittings and one with stamped fittings. The actions are the intermediate length, slightly shorter than a standard 98k. The Yugoslav M24 and 24/47 also have the intermediate action. They are perfectly servicable rifles and will perform just as well as any other Mauser type military rifle. The M48 is simply the Yugo M24 plopped into a 98k style stock and with a bent down bolt handle.

This M48 was made for Egypt and is sans the usual Yugoslav government crest. I bought it in beat up condition and had a new surplus Israeli FN made 98k 7.62mm barrel installed. I thought of it as a way to bring the mid-east together!

Hello froggy

I bought a Yugo M24/47 recently for target shooting. For some shoulder protection, I've added a slip on rubber recoil pad to the stock. This simple and inexpensive item makes the rifle pretty comfortable to shoot.
I will add that I'm a disabled shooter. I'm paralyzed from armpits down as a result of breaking my neck 15 years ago. Fortunately I did retain some bicep control and surgery over the years have given me a useable trigger finger. My shoulders are not very strong, nor is there much flesh and muscle to protect my collar bone but I've fired 20 Match PPU Mauser rounds in one session at the range without any problems or shoulder damage.
If you want to reduce the recoil, get yourself a rubber slip on recoil pad. Highly Recommended!
