Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone on here has one of these guns and how they find them, would be interested to know what the accuracy and recoil is like and what loads you are using. Would also appreciate some advise on reducing the barrel length and fitting a extension to the stock.
Cheers,
Mark

Welcome to the forum.
I currently have one in 38/357 and is accurate out to 100 yrds, will hold the black rested.
The 45 Long colt is a good round, recoil will depend on boolit weight and velocity.
Rather than chopping it wouldn't it just be easier to get a long barrelled revolver?

Thanks for the welcome's, so dromia you have kept yours at the original 18" barrel? 100 yards is very good what kind of groupings do you get at 25m? The reason for choosing the buntline is I like historical guns but want to take it down to 12" to improve the balance.

As with you I like real pistols and I'd sooner have the the longer barrel than a shorter one, but still too long, with a poker sticking out of the butt. If it is fitted with the stock then Ned Buntline's creation makes a lot of sense.

Thx. I don't think you can buy the buntline with detachable stock anymore

Hi Mark,
Yes I have one. Came across it by chance and took it as part of a deal on a shotgun that one of the lads wanted. It sat in my cabinet for ages as with the 18" barrel, it really was too unweildy to use "a la pistol"....
However........ I order to try and get it a little more user friendly, I did have the barrel chopped and a rod added! It became completely different to use. If you forget the Frankenstein looks, when you lift it into the aim, you forget about the rod and it is just a little like the "old days"! Mine is in .45 Colt and I'm using bulk cast, generic 250gn LRNFP, with Titegroup powder at the published "cowboy load" of 5.5gns. It gives to to three inch groups at 25m.
Oh, and the chopping of the barrel, with re-crowning and the rod fitting and bluing, was the princely sum of £75....

Slasher Simon Strikes!
Nice job there shame about the lightning rod, do you shoot in the wet often?
Stocks are around for the Uberti, I'd check out the deact/collectors/cowboy re-enactors sources.
