Hi All

Ovenpaa has in the past walked me through case volume measurement using water to determine volume .. but my clumsy fingers + water + electronic scale = disaster!

has anyone here used an alternative medium with consistent structure and settlement patterns to weigh the overall case volume volume.

CONSISTENCY
Besides maybe using a drop funnel or vibrating the case to ensure maximum settlement what else could I consider.

you can also use warm water :cheers: or bear but it needs to be liquid to completely fill the void

I add a tiny drop of washing up liquid to a glass of warm water, you can then add it to the case with a pippet, a length of hard plastic tube with around a 4mm ID will suffice.

Alan are you going to thetford sunday?

a syringe works well and easily controlable

I like a length of clear tube, stick it in a glass of water, pop your finger on the end and you can control the water going into the case but lifting your finger slightly.

Just confirming case volume. I am moving away from Lapau brass this year, I have a good load with my 155 Scenars and Lapua brass which I would like to duplicate with the new make of brass. First thing for me is check the case volumes and see if there is a significant difference, it will ge me an idea of case thickness and potential over pressure problems. Alternatively I could use the same load data as before however that could lead to significant over pressure. Doing it this way just cuts down a bit on load development.

This is also handy when you move from box to box of same make brass unless you are lucky enough to have picked up enough brass of the same lot for the life of the barrel.

im going to do an upload noew if nobody objects to pinching the idea for one
