Elcho Shield

#1 Post by ResearchPress »

This year is the 150th Anniversary of the first Elcho Shield Match. Is there anything special planned to mark the occasion?

Fired at 800, 900 & 1000 yards, muzzle loaders were used originally and 1881 was the first year when breech loaders were used throughout. These were all generally about .45" cal. but in 1897 rules changed such that max. bore size was .315". Rifles were also then required to be of more military character and this brought to an end the era of the black powder match rifle.

Yep - there is an Elcho dinner planned by the MR community and I am sure they have other stuff planned

We also have a Woomera Match so the Aussie team will be shooting alongside
