If you have ever read any of the US rimfire forums you will realise what they will do with this stuff , indoors basement and backyard shooting , they do it already but this will encourage more of it .
Oh well might be usefull for keeping the cats off the flower beds :55:

CB caps are what are commonly used for backyard/garage/basement shooting in the US, and these 'quiet .22s' sound like much the same thing (700 fps in line with the hotter CB caps). The CB cap is a shorter cartridge (they come in long and short varieties, with each being slightly shorter than their respective big brothers) and usually has no propellant, just a primer.
Aguila make one with a 60 grain bullet which they say makes it more effective for shooting small game.
Watch out when shooting in rifles. These things reach peak velocity in a 10-12 inch barrel so those last 4-6 inches of a standard 16 inch barrel are bleeding fps. Shoot them out of a 24 inch target barrel and you'll probably end up with a stuck bullet. Also they don't have the power to cycle an action so your semi-autos will be turned into bolt guns.
I guess it's a case of don't ask don't tell but technically you'd still need specific police permission to shoot on your own land (i.e. your garden etc) I think? All they can say is no I guess!

I've tried CB's in a number of rifles both sporting and target and found less accurate than my Section 1 air rifle, I may try a box of this new type.
My favourite low velocity rounds were the now discontinued Agulia, the bullet was 2/3 of the overall length IIRC. It flew like a motar round and the trajectory was ususally visable, very accurate, very quiet.
