The Director of Training has just been made redundant.

I do hope my NRA is going to get it right.

Rumours galore here but not for publication as I can't verify them.

Let's hope that the positions go to people worthy of them and not an ex-military Rupert or ex Plod who will not rise to the enormous challenge they will face.
Let's also hope that they will be given the authority to act without interference from the Trustees.

It is the Trustees job to 'interfere'

Membership elect General Council, General Council elect Trustees, Trustees appoint senior staff.

It is a safety net to avoid the debacle of a 'dictator' running it like a private club which is how we got into this mess in the first place.

It also means that the rank and file membership retain contact and a degree of control which is as it should be, the Trustees (Council) MUST be answerable so thus, must any 'Chief Executive'

Wasn't that why the last Gen Sec threw his hat in?

I have a lot of things I'd like to say on this subject - however as I am a full time consultant with no actual contract I cannot say anything at the moment or I won't have a job when i get back.

I have a lot of big decisions to make at the moment

If you are an NRA member you have the right to ask the current Acting CE the true circumstances of Glynn's departure.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a 'Full Time' consultant? Does that mean you have no rights as a full time employee and are essentially self employed? I'd assume that you accrue no pension rights with the NRA (if they have a pension scheme), no paid holiday time, no sickness benefits etc, etc.

After a considerable period of reflection I have paid my membership this week. I can only hope it is not money down the drain. At least I have the right to speak out about the NRA and the way it is managed!
