All we seem to have is rumour at the moment.

Good communication is at the heart of a good organisation and it is sadly lacking here, especially when it is something as serious as reducing capacity.

Restructures should not be the way to remove dead wood from an organisation that is underhand, shoddy, unprofessional and weakens the structure. Deadwood should be dealt with through performance management. Not by deleting posts that poor performing incumbents occupy, to do this means that you loose the post and to reinstate a similar post invites unfair dismissal claims.

Such activity if it is true here indicates very poor management and leadership.

But as I've said all we seem to have is rumour and the longer the NRA remains silent on this the worse they will be seen as an organisation.

Redundancies were announced yesterday

People are upset

It would not be right to gossip about the situation until the people concerned have had time to tell their friends and family.

I can confirm that Nick Halford and Chris Webb have been made redundant as they are both OK to have that information made public. I do not know whether the others wish to have this publicised yet.

I don't know Nick but I do know Chris and it's a shame to see someone who actually goes out around the county and promotes the NRA being made redundant.

Thank you Karen, as you say it is a difficult time for those involved as well as those that remain and rumour doesn't help at all.

As I've said the NRA could have handled this better externally by sharing their timetable which would have gone some way to dampening speculation.

Restructures are not about people but about posts and roles, it is always the people who suffer in such situations though.

The deletion of a regional manager post speaks volumes though.

I cannot believe Nick Halford and Chris Webb are gone from the NRA.

So the strategy is to get rid of people who actually made a difference?
I am really sorry to hear this and honestly cannot understand where the NRA is heading.

I'm very sorry for all those at the NRA who are going through this.

Although its of little comfort its sometimes better to know than to live with the uncertainty; at least you can get on with your life. I say this being firmly in the latter category at the moment

I think that we have to take this as a wake up call and really focus on how to make the NRA a viable entity that can grow and untimately restore these posts. Support those who are leaving and those who continue in post.

Wise words Watcher and I thoroughly endorse them, sometimes change is for the good even if it does not feel like it at the time.

Thank you to Nick and Chris for all the good work you have done. You will both be missed.

Having had dealings with both Nick and Chris, I am very sad (and surprised if I'm honest) to hear this news. Very best of luck to them both, and anyone else who finds themselves in the same boat.
