For the last 4 years i've had permission to shoot over 18 acres of mature woodland, mostly sweet chestnut (for copesing)sp?,but, with plenty of mature trees, and plenty of squirrels, and wood pigeon, which I control with shotgun.
When I first started shooting this land it was air rifle and shotgun only, but with the owners permission I applied for and got use of .22r/f (for rabbits) at first, then I found that there were a lot of fox there as well,so the permission was granted for a .22c/f (hornet).
When the snow was on the ground earlier this year,we found some deer tracks as well.
The owner has had the land up for sale for a few months, and has managed a sale, the change-over day is Wednesday 14th December 2011.
I don't know who the new owners are,or if they will want me to carry on with 'pest control'.The present owner has said he will ask.
I would hate to lose this permission as it's a mile from home and takes under 5 mins by car,it's so easy to spend a couple of hours or so out there.
Alan
