Seeking Ideas for F Class Meeting Format and COF

#1 Post by rox »

I’m working on the planning of a meeting that follows a conventional TR format, and I’m looking for feedback and ideas on how to make it more suitable and as appealing as possible to F Class shooters (both Open and F/TR).

I’m particularly interested in comments from those who have shot in the F Class League, Europeans etc, but suggestions from all F Class shooters are very welcome.

Possibilities that I’ve considered include:
  • Shooting in pairs rather than threes (although pairs would of course be more expensive).
  • Changing the COF, such that 2+7 becomes 2+10, 2+10 -> 2+15, 2+15 -> 2+20. However, the round count is already 131 without any changes, changing all the shoots would male it 175 for what is essentially 2 day’s shooting. Changing just the QI and QII would result in a count of 155 – would that be preferable than setting-up for measly 2+7’s?
What other ideas would make for a better F Class meeting format ?

The basic format is as follows:

Day 1 pm (St George's I & II format)
2 + 15 @ 300x
2 + 15 @ 600x

Day 2 am (Queen's I format)
2 + 7 @ 300x
2 + 7 @ 500x
2 + 7 @ 600x

Day 2 pm (Queen's II format)
2 + 10 @ 300x
2 + 10 @ 500x
2 + 10 @ 600x

Day 3 am (Queen's III format)
2 + 15 @ 900x
2 + 15 @ 1000x

Thanks for all and any comments.

I agree on the setting up for 2+7's, better to make them 2+10 or even 2+15. personally I am quite happy to shoot 2+10's if shooting in pairs as it does extend the time at the point. I would only go for a 2+20 for the 1000 if any.

What would the scoring format be and would sighters be convertable?

Liking the idea, all the GB F-Class league shoots are combinations of 2+15 2+20 matches normally a total round count of around 80-100.

2+10's and 2+15's at various distances appeal to me personally :goodjob: :0037:

It would be standard F Class targets, standard F Class scoring (currently V = 5.1, isn't it?) and convertible sighters plus blow-offs.

I guess that if we went to 2+10 and 2+15 for the QI & QII then we'd have to also drop from threes to pairs in order to get through in time, which is going to bump up the cost a bit as well as adding 24 rounds taking the total to 155.

155 over three days is doable, most I have shot in a days competition was 102 and that was a busy day.

I think 155 over 3 days is ok, perhaps give the option of different comps over the days + grand aggregate in case some people can't/won't do the lot. Bearing in mind some folk shooting F-Open are only getting 7-800 rounds from a barrel they may choose to only do one day.

Rox,

The City meeting usually squads effers in three and they usually get through, that said, there are only half a dozen 'F' entries.

It looks like most of the responses so far are coming down in favour of not doing 2 + 7 and I'm of that ilk too. I'd spend longer setting up my kit than shooting (almost)

2 + 20 at long range too, I concur with Dave on that.

It is true however, that some won't do all the comps. Personally I shall be concentrating on long range to keep the round count down.

When are you hoping to do this? - given that the calendar will be pretty full already.

Hope it goes well and if I can help - let me know.

On a slightly different note, is there any classification system in F, like the T/O/A/X classes in TR?
