Morning people,

With regard to string shooting, what are the rules / time limits involved. I'm assuming that will still be detailed with another shooter who scores your card and that you each have half the detail to complete the course of fire at your own pace. Is this correct?

Regards phil

Artiglio,

The theory of string shooting is that your last shot is THE best wind indicator! Therefore, it pays to act quickly and get the next one off before the wind changes.

In other words, two shooters string-shooting will finish quicker than two shooters shooting 'Commonwealth' style.

Of course, if you prefer, you can adopt a nice steady pace and try and read the flags for each shot.

Your partner will keep your score by looking through his scope.

Yes, it will be harder on barrels, particularly with the WSMs.

Cheers Vince,

Much as I thought, though being new to fullbore I've found the commonwealth style good as it gives time to keep things organised, but with each shot being dropped and scored should still have plenty of time to keep things smooth. What would be the allotted time for 2/15 and 2/20 strings? Would you expect scores to improve ?

regards phil

The pace will be controlled by the butt markers - fire your shot, target goes down, re-appears 20-30 secs later - fire your next shot. I would expect a 20 shot string to take less than 10 minutes.

Will scores improve? They will for most of us - who can't read the wind!
