Hello everyone. I was wondering do any of you fellows have and/or shoot vintage Rook & Rabit rifles?
Not too common over here..the ones I have seen are pretty well used up. I have been conversing with a collector who does have a few & might be willing to part with one...saving pennys & keeping fingers crossed!

I've got one that I shoot now & again. It was my Father-in-Law's deer poaching rifle and I inherited it after he died (He was one of the best Poacher's in Wester Ross). It's just a basic octagonal barrelled, side lever, break action, no visible maker's name, in .380, twin leaf rear sight marked 50/100. My F-I-L used to use .38/200 fmj revolver cartridges in it, he'd sneak up on a deer, stick the muzzle in it's ear & pull the trigger.

A large number of Rook rifles were bored out and converted to .410 shotguns. At Holts auctions there will often be several in the sale.
