Are any of the more anal reloaders amongst us using pin gauges for donut discovery.

I nearly ordered a set of ping gauges for another project quite recently however they were getting expensive in the .300+ sizes so I gave up on the idea.

I thought and hoped you might see this thread Dave. Can you see my thinking behind using them, unless we can come up with the sliding dti as we onced discussed.

It is a good idea for sure, only issue is neck concentricity as you are working to probably .002" and a slight deviation of the neck could give the impression that there was no inner ridge.

If you can find a mid range set of pin gauges from say .280 to .320 then it is worth a try, problem I had was I would have ended up buying a huge set to only use maybe half a dozen.

The sliding DTI is worth a look again :good:

i tolerate and get consistant .0005 neck run out Dave other wise the cases go for practice or blow off rounds. luckily im still fireforming brass and have so far checked 96 rounds with no no concentricity issues ..soo far!!
