I'm saving like mad and have a Browning 'X' bolt stainless stalker in .223 put away for when my certificate comes back (Kent are taking around 4 months!!!) The rifle has a 1 in 12 twist,and I have plenty of H322 powder to use,i'd like to keep in the 50-55 gn weight for bullets for fox and hopefully some small deer,but finding it difficult to find data for H322,should I think of changing to a different powder?
Any and all advice gratefully received.

I should add that I shall be using Winchester cases as recommended by Browning

55gn v max out of my 26" rem 700 1:9 H322 work up from 22.1gns...23.9 gns max, 2800fps-3100fps. 958 ft lbs -1174 ft lbs respectively.

Sierra reckon H4895 for hunting 26.1gns 3300fps 1330ft lbs

I think 55gn bullets are on the limit for 1:12.

Agreed, when I was a member of a gun club,it was always said "don't use 60 gner's in a 1 in 12 twist,they may not stabilise".
BUT, which 55gns are the better? Hornady V-max or Sierra Blitzkings? :?

You might like to try Vit 133 or blc2 , with 26gr & a 50 or 55gr head, it dont seem to matter, they stay tight @ 150yds.

I know the world has gone mad for polymer tips, but have you considered Hornady SXSP 50gr. I know it's typical American hype, but it stands for, Super Xplosive Soft Point. Some of the nastiest little pills I have ever used. As they they have an exposed lead point they need to be nursed through the reloading process, good pratice anyway, and they are no use in a hot .22/250. Box has a warning not to push them beyond 3400, from memory. The jackets are purposely pre stressed, and won't tolerate hyper velocity. In my .223, and I'm sure you will agree, they are one of the best fox bullets on the market. Several crows that have accidentally landed on my "Zeroing" area have also fallen foul. The effect has to be seen to be believed. I may post a link shortly, but have you considered "Barnes Varmint Grenades".

The video is very impressive, esp. in slo mo. Can you believe that you can subject a small piece of metal to the stress of being launched down a tiny .22 barrel, while being forced to rotate, and spin down range accurately, yet still be so fragile that it will fragment when subjected to the stress of bursting a grape! BTW while this video will not upset any vermin shooters, there is a couple of shots that while not overly graphic, may not suit someone that doesn't shoot live quarry. I do not wish to offend anyone.

Please don't badger me with external ballistics, just watch the video. If it is fake, please tell me. At the mo, I'm seriously impressed.

BTW. My favourite load was, Federal cases, CCI SR Primer, 50gr Hornady SXSP, H332 22.5gr
