Hi all,

I just bought a Marlin 1894 44 magnum but have a small issue. When I tried it out today the empty case wouldn't eject. On inspection there seems to be a problem with the clip on the bolt carrier assembly and it seems like a spring is missing or screwed. (see picture with red circle) anyone ever came across this and know how to go about fixing it? Sorry for some of the terminology, I'm pretty new to the Marlin.

Scott, do you mean "extract", remove case from chamber, or "eject", kick case out to the side out of the action?

The part you've circled is the extractor. Purely from the pic, it looks like there is enough "beef" on the claw. The spring for the extractor is flat and sits deep in the the extractor recess, attached to the extractor to form a "V". The whole unit is held with a roll pin through the bolt. You can drive the pin out to see this.

If you mean eject, you may be missing the ejector or ejector spring. These sit in a recess on the receiver wall opposite the "opening" in the reciever. The bolt runs over the ejector via the recess in the bolt on the opposite side of the part you've high lighted.

Again, the ejector has a flat spring attached to it to form a "V". It's not uncommon for the spring to break.

If you need any parts, Edgar Brothers are now the importer of Marlins and their customer service probably means you'd get the parts in a year! However, Gun Parts Corporation or Brownells would be a better choice.

Hey, Yeah it's the extractor spring that seems screwed. I'll go take it apart in a minute and check it. excuse my terminology... :) I was maybe going to see if SYSS had this part. They seemed pretty fast when I ordered things for my ruger 10/22. I'll keep you posted. Thanks
