l have just been given about 50lbs of wheel weights from a friend who knows l make my own bullets. On putting them in my electric furnace for the lst time l noticed that a couple where not melting and the rest were looking like shiny porridge , they certainly would not pour. l have not used wheel weights for some time due the fact l have lots of lead flashing etc. [no l have not been visiting our local churches at night].

. So is there anybody that can throw some light on this please.
Regards Telshe

Yep, you need to sort the zinc ones out, even a few will turn your alloy into porridge.
Fortunately zinc melts at a higher temperature than lead alloys so just keep your melt at its slush point and skim off the Zn ones.

No good once its mixed, its the unmelted Zn wheel weights that you skim off.
