6mm Musgrave

Just picked up a couple of 6mm Musgrave Enfield conversions.
I've been looking for one of these for years after seeing one on the hill when I worked as a stalker. That was the calibre that got me fascinated in .303" British "wildcats". The Ozzies have a plethora of them but you rarely see them over here. The Musgrave is obviously South African and was brought in in the year of my birth 1955. Ben Musgrave is supposed to have developed it for medium plains game because of the plethora of Enfield actions around at the time.
So after all these years of waiting I get two of them.
Bit like buses.
I'm a big fan of the 6mm round for beasts and foxes currently using a 6mm Remington (the real .243") Parker Hale rifle. Having a 6mm round based on a .303" case and shot from a Lee Enfield rifle conversion is as near 6mm heaven for me as you could get.
Both are No1 actions
The rifles are needing a bit of a clean up but both barrels look champion.
One is a straight Musgrave conversion with a light barrel marked MUSGRAVE & SEUNS and has a No1 rearsight fitted with a ramped bead foresight, the rubber recoil pad is marked MUSGRAVE & SONS BLOEMFONTEIN with a Pachmayr spacer. It has a telescopic sight rail screwed onto the knox form and the charger bridge. The wood work is converted No1 with some nice checkering on it, fore end is cut down to sporter style and the barrel is free floating.
The other one has no markings other than the 6mm Mus proof stamp, it has a heavier barrel no iron sights and the knox and charger bridge drilled and tapped for a scope rail. The woodwork looks very much like what Parker Hale put on their Enfield sporter conversions with pistol grip and RH cheek comb.
Just waiting for the die sets to arrive and get on with some case forming.
Velocity wise it will be a little short of the 6mm Remington as I'll need to keep loads to .303" levels but I should still get 3,000 fps from an 85 grainer.
Twist is supposed to be 1 in 10 but I have yet to check it on these rifles
Think I'll keep one for bambi and the other for cast boolits.
