CHEAPEST POSSIBLE RIFLE CASE

#1 Post by Watcher »

As I rarely take more that one rifle to the range I have never needed more than one rifle case. However we are having a bit of a 'do' at Bisley in a couple of weeks and I want to take all four rifles. Don't want to spend much but want to be legal and decent in packing the rifles up for a car journey. Can anyone recommend anyone that sells cheap covers?

Looking to cover two Lee Enfields.

Something that *might* help. I have a friend who's knocked up all of my rifle cases for me. They're sawn canvas or similar material with slings sawn in.

They're light and surdy. If you want a "no frills" carrier, I can ask him if he's taking orders. I'm not sure what he "has on" at the moment, maybe he has no free time to make 'em. But I can ask if you like.

"Was it like this? No; it was not quite so handsome. As to rules and regulations, we had no Red Book, We were out fighting the Boers, not sitting comfortably behind barb-wire entanglements; we got them and shot them under Rule .303!"

No until the Boers had shot the sh...t out of them under rule 7mm / 8 mm Mauser!!! :-P

Add to Rule 303 ..... Rule ConcentrationCamp

Sorry. Wasn't meant to offend. It's a historical quote, and I like the film.

Having met and spent time with Eagernoskills I very much doubt he is easily offended, and if all else fails just pop a rifle in his hands and point him at a target and he is a great chap :good:

Thanks Tower.

We're going on the 24th October so it may be a bit too tight. Thanks for the kind offer though.

Hi Tower

No offence mate  I view both side since I am 50% Scottish 50% Boer - I had great granddads that fought on both sides of that war  .
I grew up arguing / seeing / defending both sides.... I just highlight stuff because as we see all over again ........
"Politicians send young men to die for the most spurious reasons" :cool2:

Take a community of Dutchmen of the type of those who defended themselves for fifty years against all the power of Spain at a time when Spain was the greatest power in the world. Intermix with them a strain of those inflexible French Huguenots who gave up home and fortune and left their country for ever at the time of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The product must obviously be one of the most rugged, virile, unconquerable races ever seen upon earth. Take this formidable people and train them for seven generations in constant warfare against savage men and ferocious beasts, in circumstances under which no weakling could survive, place them so that they acquire exceptional skill with weapons and in horsemanship, give them a country which is eminently suited to the tactics of the huntsman, the marksman, and the rider. Then, finally, put a finer temper upon their military qualities by a dour fatalistic Old Testament religion and an ardent and consuming patriotism. Combine all these qualities and all these impulses in one individual, and you have the modern Boer--the most formidable antagonist who ever crossed the path of Imperial Britain. Our military history has largely consisted in our conflicts with France, but Napoleon and all his veterans have never treated us so roughly as these hard-bitten farmers with their ancient theology and their inconveniently modern rifles.

Hard or soft?

You can get a no frills double hard (ABS) one off flea bay for under 50 notes - or a double soft one for under 20 notes - mind most are camo!

Thanks chaps,

I've seen some very simple nylon shotgun cases for less than £20. Its only for shipping in the car down to Bisley. Will be out of sight of course but just doesn't feel right knocking about.
