Sound moderators.

#1 Post by PeterN »

The government has announced that sound moderators are to be removed from FAC control. When the legislation goes through, no more variations for moderators.

Peter.

Considering the other thread about numbers I don't suppose it will free up slots.

The proposal is for moderators only to be legally held by FAC holders, but how they are going to check that with private sales, if there is no requirement to register them, is anybody’s guess any????

The Tories did the consultation, this is the result. Well, its not a result yet but they appear to be saying they're willing to do it. :good:

Considering the whole idea is to drop a load of unnecessary work for FLDs i'd be surprised if they're going to want 10's of thousands of 1-4-1's landing at the same time!

Presumably by having a prison sentence for possessing one without a certificate and/or for supplying one to someone without a certificate. Same way with ammunition although we know there is some 'leakage' with that....

Just how the air rifle moderator process will work will be interesting. I mean it couldn't get any more ludicrous that it is now right, right..... lol

I understand they're actually changing the definition section where a firearm is described.
But you'll still need an FAC to acquire or possess so still controlled. But, as you say, no slots.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

As has been suggested elsewhere, it’s likely we’ll just loose the slots. Unless you did something creative with your local friendly RFD well in advance of legislation being passed :good:
