I’m eyeing up a Sect 1 Maverick with a rifled slugster barrel. Does anyone reload for these and what is the component availability like at the moment?

I take it not for use in the U.K. then?

Slightly confuddled then. Gun has fore and rear sight and after googling found what I thought it was.

You mentioned a rifled barrel. Not permitted on a pump or semi auto in the U.K. as that would make it a section 5.

just ensure that you have authority to possess 12ga slug on your FAC prior to assembly of the above.

Having had to recently restock my slug reloading provisions I'd say the availability of components is good now, or at least significantly better than the last 3 years. Powder has been the most difficult to put hands on from my own experience. Everything has doubled/tripled in price. I was able to reload my own slugs for £4.50 a box, now its more like £9.50. Thats still 50% of RRP though so still well worth doing.

However as Chapuis has said, you cannot legally own a pump or semi-auto shotgun with a rifled barrel. AFAIK there is no such thing as a Section 1 Maverick with a rifled barrel, only Section 5.

Some guns are marketed as having 'slug' barrels for rifled slugs, this generally just means they have a set of sights on the barrel, as opposed to a plain bead. 'Rifled slugs' aren't really a thing. The spiralled fins on them are to allow them to pass through chokes more easily and do little to impart any kind of meaningful spin on the slug.
