A member of our club has left some stuff at the club to dispose of with the proceeds going to club funds. Among the bits not sold is a box containing bullet swaging stuff. This has been there a while and no-one seems interested in it. Out of curiosity, I have brought it home to have a look to see what is in the box. There is a selection of stuff. There are about 1000 .30 cal copper jackets, about 2000 .243 cal copper jackets, a lead core cutter, some lubricants, 3 spools of 5mm lead wire, some swaging books and a two piece bullet swaging die that was made by Gilly Howe. I have no idea how the die works, because the swaging videos I have seen seem to use a big powerful press. It looks to be a lot of faff to do, so I will take this lot back to the club. I can see it being useful to make some obscure bullet, but not for your normal stuff. I presume it has a value to someone, but not for me.

Ask where the press is. The forces required for swaging jacketed bullets are well beyond the capability of most reloading presses.

I stage mine in a small Lee press.
