Hello
I have an eclectic collection of military service rifles, I would now like to embark on .22rf bolt action shooting.
I am not looking for a single shot all out target rifle but an accurate out to 25/75 metres .22rf mag fed bolt action, I have looked at a number of the CZ variants and they seem to fit the bill but doe`s anybody have any first hand experience of shooting this type of rifle as I am a bit lost on this calibre having only shot full bore.

I have a cz452 in 22lr that I use for target practice and also hunt with it regularly out to 100 yards.
I also have a cz455 in 17hmr and shoot that out to 200/300 with it.
The cz’s are fantastic value for money and I have taught countless numbers of people to shoot using them as they are accurate and reliable

I mostly have military service rifles as well,.my go to . 22lr is a converted MH, but the CZ is well worth a.look for something different, I enjoy having a go when she let's me.

You can not go wrong with a CZ.

If you just want a competent shooter, then yes, it's hard to beat a CZ - An old BRNO 2E (CZ), often available for very little money, will hold their own with most for reliability and accuracy. If you're looking for something a little more special, a Sako Finnfire P94S or the HW66.
If something with a bit of character a BSA Century (make sure there's a magazine with it)
If thinking new, then Sako Quad, Tikka T1 or an Anschutz.

Really plenty of choice for good accurate .22lr rifles - it really depends on what takes your fancy and how much you want to spend - A BRNO 2E for £150 or an Anschutz 1727 for £3,000.

All of these rifles are accurate, and to be honest, if they were in a head to head competition at 100yds, with suitable ammunition, there would be very little difference in group size.

To be fair most .22's are more dependent on the ammunition than the rifle.

The rest is ergonomics, with so many stock options for rifles these days it's a case of setting a budget with your requirements in mind. Personally I am lustimg after the new CZ 457 in the Black LRP stock.

For value, any of the CZ variants.

For accuracy, Anschutz 1710, match 54 actioned repeater.

No cost limits, Vudoo V-22.

If you can get past the idea of wanting a magazine fed rifle, then instead of paying a couple of grand for an Anschutz 17 series, you could get an Anschutz Match 54 single shot rifle for just a couple of hundred quid.
Get a modern stock, chop 10" off the barrel, fit a moderator and bipod you will have a brilliant long range rabbit sniper, super accurate with a superb trigger.
You could do the same with any of the old target rifles..

I have a CZ452 that I paid £150 for including a scope. For a plinker to put a few holes in a piece of paper its great. But it will not compete with a dedicated, single-shot target rifle of course. If accuracy is your main concern then something like an old anschutz would be preferable and can be had for similar money. But if you want something reasonably accurate and fun then any of the CZ 45x guns will do the job.
For reference using the CZ for benchrest at 25 yards I average 96-97. Using my Walther KK300 I average 99.7.

I have a .22 Sako Finnfire that I cut down to 18" for the moderator, which is a cheap Parker Hale. With Winchester hollow point I can get 1" groups at 50yds, but with Eley Match (1078fps stuff) I can get 1" groups at 100yds.
As 20series said, it all depends on the ammo, and even different makes/speeds etc can make a hell of a difference.
I have a CZ452 in .17Hmr and on a still day with no wind I can easily take rabbits a 170yds.

If there is a wind...........................shots could be anywhere. ;)
